Ruoxi Zhang,LMHS

If a person’s life could be cataloged into a library of experiences, then therapy could be a dedicated safe lab for crafting its shelf contents. I like to imagine therapy as providing a sort of exploratory space where individuals can go to investigate and learn about themselves. Central to my approach is a focus on body-based awareness and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Understanding each person holistically allows me to work pragmatically from their frame of mind. I offer guidance and support that help individuals actualize aspects about themselves, identify patterns of behavior, and build self-assurance when faced with challenges.I have helped teens, adults, and families in numerous diverse circumstances (LGBTQIA+, socio-cultural-economically diverse families, court involved youths, state involved families, youths in the foster care system, domestic violence, sexual violence, adults in assisted living) develop a variety of skills to better manage their mental wellness, such as effective communication, emotional intelligence, and prosocial behaviors. As an Asian-American immigrant, with 8 years of counseling experience, I understand the weight and privilege of hearing a person’s story; the joyous and grief-stricken, the vulnerable and courageous. I hope I’ll have an opportunity to hear your story.
